The Year of 2018

Started this year off with a load of holidays. Everyone in salon had a break after the manic hours worked at Christmas time. We loved the rush but were so ready for the sleep ins.

For the first time ever, I was invited to the Redken Business Connect seminar. This is for the top 50 salon owners in Australia held in a different place every year. This year it was Ayers Rock. I wasn’t going to go until one day I was talking about it with our salon regular Pam and she said to me “what are you waiting for just go” and in that moment I thought yes I am going to go I have worked so hard to build my salon up with beautiful loyal clients who are like family. Its time I did something for them. Even if it was me going on a holiday to Uluru.

Whilst in Uluru I learnt so much about our evolving industry and what is to come for the next 12 months. I got to meet likeminded extra inspired people who I gave ideas and gave me ideas. It was inspiring to be in a room with people who are as passionate about the industry as I am. Its infectious. Learning in the outback seeing the beautiful rock eating under the stars and being on my own with a bunch of hairdressers is a time in my life I will never forget.

Coming back to Savvy after the trip away. I was bursting at the seams to let all the girls know what went on and how much I learnt. We had a staff meeting and those of you that know us know we like to dine. So, it was business and breakfast which is always a winner.

I am so lucky to have a team of girls who all know their strengths and weaknesses and are more than willing to grow themselves as people and stylists. My Uluru passion has rubbed off on them.

As we come to the end of the first half of the year it has made me sit down and reflect how busy we have been. I love doing hair every chance I get. I am so lucky my clients have supported my dream to be a salon owner, great hairdresser and mum to my beautiful girls. I feel lucky and can’t wait for the next adventure.

Being nominated for the Peel Business Awards again has been such an honor. It couldn’t come at a better time for me and the salon. After recent purchase of a new premises I will finally stop renting and own my own salon. The space I want to create for all you clients will be so Savvy I am hoping to have the 10-year party there. Even if it’s an empty space it would be so amazing to show everyone what the plans are over a bottle of champagne!!
